  • Annual matriculation tax for boats > 8 m (16% IEDMT).

Documents

  • Bill of sale.
  • USCG documentation or state title.
  • CE / EU marking certificate (or post-construction assessment).
  • Insurance valid in Spain.
  • Skipper licence.

EU CE marking

If the boat was not built to EU standards, a Post-Construction Assessment (PCA) by a notified body is required before registration. Costs typically €1,500–€5,000.

Registration

The boat is enrolled in one of the seven Spanish registry lists depending on use (private, commercial, charter). Capitanía Marítima issues the Spanish flag certificate.

Timeline

Shipping 3–6 weeks + Spanish process 6–10 weeks. Total: 9–16 weeks.
